Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
